Special issues of Optical Remote Sensing Summer School

The 2nd Summer School of the ATHENA project has been hosted at the Cyprus University of Technology premises between 12-15 June, 2017. The topic of the summer school was "Special issues of Optical Remote Sensing" and more specifically hyperspectral analysis and spectral un-mixing. The lectures and hands-on workshop on Matlab encviroment have been prepared by Dr. Daniele Cerra from DLR.

ATHENA project supports the Summer School Course "CULTURAL HERITAGE AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT SURVEYING, MODELLING AND MONITORING" held at Politecnico di Milano between June 20-23 2017. The topic of this year summer school is "Multi-Temporal, Multi-Source, Multi-Scale Remote Sensing Data for Built Environment, Cultural Heritage and Archaeology" During the summer school Dr. Athos Agapiou from CUT and Dr. Daniele Cerra from DLR will present and provide hands on experience in the participants. ATHENA review meeting @ CUT premises

Interim review meeting of the ATHENA project took place on 24th of May at CUT premises. During the meeting the overall progress of the first 15 months (i.e. December 2015 - February 2017) was presented along with the overall achievements including training and dissemination activities.

Athena project was presented at the 37th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment (ISRSE-37) that took place in Tshwane, South Africa 8 to 12 May 2017. The theme of the conference was "Earth Observation for Development and Adaptation to a Changing World". (more…)

ATHENA project activities

The second short term visit on site within the ATHENA project activities for testing, evaluation and discussion in Cultural Heritage sites has been carried out on the 21st of March 2017. CNR and CUT staff members and researchers visited the archaeological site of the "Tombs of the Kings" in Paphos. Portable GPR's have been used to map the preservation status of specific elements of tomb no. 4.

Workshop: Remote sensing for Cultural Heritage beyond Europe

The second workshop of the ATHENA project, entitled Remote sensing for Cultural Heritage beyond Europe, has been successfully accomplished during the RSCy2017 International Conference in Cyprus. The workshop attracted several scientists dealing both with remote sensing and Cultural Heritage protection, while interesting examples from areas beyond Europe have been presented.
